Our program is based on the idea that each human is unique, and that individuality is expressed through our creativity. Creativity in life is something to be celebrated, whether that is in art, music, or the simple act of imaginary play. We are a primarily play-based center with an emergent curriculum that places extra emphasis on art and the natural world.
We believe that young kids thrive when allowed as much freedom of choice as we can provide as the adults in their lives. Our classroom spaces and daily schedule are predictably structured so that the kids can explore throughout their day while always having the security of knowing what’s coming next.
The development self-care skills plays a huge part in a preschooler’s confidence and independence. The kids at Naiad will always have the security of knowing there is a helping hand when they need it, and that they will always get a chance to do things for themselves.
As with all creatures, kids function best when they are happy and healthy. We strive to provide high quality whole foods and tasty home-cooked meals so the kids are well fed, as well as a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere for solid rest during naptime.
Lastly, we at Naiad care deeply for the Earth and all its creatures, which is a value reflected both in our teaching practices and in the way we care for our space. We use eco friendly and reusable materials whenever possible, and make every effort to reduce the high volume of waste that many childcare centers generate.
